William Pitman

Research Data Engineer

Educational background

I have a Bachelor of Applied Science in Electrical Engineering from Queen’s University and a Master of Applied Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo. My research during my master’s involved using machine learning techniques to improve ultrasound image quality when hardware is limited (e.g., portable devices).

My past accomplishments

I previously worked at a medical technology company called FluidAI Medical as a Data Scientist and Engineer. Here, I was able to develop decision support models using clinical trial and EHR datasets, and then deploy/monitor them in surgical wards throughout North America and the Middle East.

When I feel most inspired

Working through complex challenges with a motivated team that brings diverse backgrounds, skill sets, and perspectives.

A few of my favourite things

Playing hockey/basketball, dancing, spending time with family & friends.
