Kathleen-Rose Zakoor
Research Coordinator
Educational background
My educational journey took me from Wildlife Biology to Bioinformatics, earning both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Bioinformatics from the University of Guelph. The interdisciplinary nature of my education taught me how to approach complex problems from multiple perspectives, a skill that continues to shape my work in research today.
My past accomplishments
I’m proud of helping in transforming the vision for the Brain Health & Wellness and Organ Injury & Repair scientific pillars at Unity Health into thriving research communities. From developing funding programs to launching initiatives such as the Research Wellness Series, Leadership Development Program, and International Fibrosis Symposium, it was incredibly rewarding to build communities, foster collaboration, and support researchers at every stage of their careers.
When I feel most inspired
I feel most inspired when I can take an idea and turn it into something meaningful and lasting. Whether it’s building a new program, improving a process, or bringing order to complexity, I’m motivated by creating environments where people can thrive and make a meaningful impact.
A few of my favourite things
My cat Lola, exploring the outdoors, a great cup of coffee, and connecting with people!
